The AC L series has the narrowest neck opening in the Auguste Cryogenics Medical Family: 30–50 mm. Less opening means less heat gets in, so one filling of liquid nitrogen lasts up to 286 days. Choose short canisters (-S) for straws or long canisters (-L) with two goblets each for straws and cryovials. Used in laboratories, medical, pharmaceutical and industrial facilities for the long-term storage of biological material.

What sets the series apart

The neck opening decides.

The neck opening is the largest heat bridge of every vessel. A narrow neck opening keeps nitrogen longest. A wide neck opening takes more canisters or racks, but needs refilling more often. The 5 vessel series of the family, neck openings drawn to scale:

Every AC L vessel comes with 6 canisters that hang in a ring below the neck opening (AC L2: 3). The letter at the end of the model name tells you which kind.

Good to know before you choose

What the numbers mean in daily use.

Holding time is a lab value

Every opening shortens the holding time. Plan your refill interval with a buffer, especially if you access samples often.

Liquid or vapour phase

Samples are stored submerged in liquid nitrogen. With long canisters, storage in the vapour phase above the liquid may also be possible. Ask us before you plan it.

Light enough to carry

Aluminium body, 2.8 kg (AC L2) to 17.2 kg (AC L50T) empty. In our range, all vessels up to 10 litres and the T models are approved under ADR.

Grows with your samples

Canisters, goblets and cryovial holders are available as accessories. If you outgrow the L series, the wider-necked XL+ and 2XL series take many more samples.
